The following encyclopedia contains and explains the terms, concepts, geographic objects, institutions, etc., connected with the life and activity of Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleyev, in alphabetical order. It is devoted much attention to biographic references about scientists and specialists, who worked with D.I. Mendeleyev; to his forerunners in meeting the scientific challenges, and to his scientific achievements which made his name famous. The encyclopedia was compiled on the basis of the published materials, archives and memorial funds of the scientist.
